The Ancient "Luckenbooth" Brooch......
"Luckenbooth Brooches are so called because they were sold from "locked booths" in the Royal Mile, adjacent to St. Giles Cathedral Edinburgh, in the early 1700s, and they were traditionally exchanged between lovers on betrothal or marriage. Later, the new parents would pin the Luckenbooth Brooch to their newborn's blanket to ward off evil spirits. These beautiful brooches were passed from generation to generation to become family heirlooms".
